Στούντιο ομορφιάς με πρόσοψη που δουλεύει ως προθήκη. Η υποδοχή τοποθετείται στον άξονα του παραθύρου, με το σήμα σε χρυσό πίσω της, ώστε ο περαστικός να διαβάζει πρώτα την ταυτότητα και μετά τον χώρο. Η ζαρντινιέρα στο περβάζι είναι το κατώφλι: χωρίζει τον δρόμο από τον χώρο χωρίς τζαμαρία και χωρίς κουρτίνα.
Μέσα, η παλέτα δεν είναι ουδέτερη. Ροζ πούδρας στους τοίχους και στα καθίσματα, βαθύ πράσινο βελούδο στον καναπέ, χρυσό στα μεταλλικά, ψαροκόκαλο δρυς στο δάπεδο. Ο φωτισμός είναι δακτύλιοι και σφαίρες, δηλαδή διάχυτος και όχι κατευθυνόμενος, γιατί εδώ το φως πέφτει σε πρόσωπα.
Ο χώρος έχει χιούμορ και το δηλώνει: μια Τζοκόντα που φουσκώνει τσίχλα, ένα γαλλικό μπουλντόγκ σε φωτογραφία σύλληψης, ένα ζευγάρι χρυσά φτερά σε φωτισμένη αψίδα. Είναι τα σημεία που φωτογραφίζει ο κόσμος, και μπήκαν για αυτόν ακριβώς τον λόγο.
A beauty studio with a frontage that works as a display case. The reception sits square on the window axis with the gold wordmark behind it, so a passer-by reads the identity first and the room second. The planted box on the sill is the threshold: it separates street from room without glazing and without a curtain.
Inside, the palette is not neutral. Powder pink on the walls and the seating, deep green velvet on the sofa, gold on the metalwork, oak herringbone on the floor. The lighting is rings and globes: diffuse rather than directed, because here the light falls on faces.
The room has a sense of humour and says so: a Mona Lisa blowing bubblegum, a French bulldog in a police mugshot, a pair of gold wings in a lit arch. These are the spots people photograph, and they were put there for exactly that reason.
